| 内容記述 | In the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, Mexico witnessed the emergence of what are commonly referred to as 'indigenous chronicles'. These literary works were composed either indigenous languages, such as Nahuatl, or in Spanish by indigenous or mestizo descendants. These chronicles narrate the ancient history and the period of Spanish conquest. This article aims to clarify some facets of these chronicles concerning the transmission and reconstruction of historical memory in Central Mexico. First, we will examine the approaches employed by the chroniclers for the interpretation and reinterpretation of the pre-Columbian past. Second, we will reconsider the concept of the 'author' within the context of this historiographic production, examining the works of Hernando de Alvarado Tezozómoc (Crónica mexicana and Crónica mexicáyotl), Cristóbal del Castillo (Historia de la venida de los mexicanos y de otros pueblos and Historia de la conquista) and Fernando de Alva Ixtlilxóchitl (Historia de la nación chichimeca). Finally, we will develop a reflection of how to understand these historiographical subjects who left their version of the past to succeeding generations. | |||||||
