If the well-being, which is the subjective value in each individual, might be overlooked at the societal level, the measures devised to deal with could be settled on. Therefore we need some survey to declare the social well-being of the people as well as the subjective well-being through both qualitative and quantitative approach.\nSince the mid-20th century GDP has been generally accepted by the most economists and politicians for evaluating the social and economic situations and performances in each countries. It is the very convenient measure even for the international comparison. But we feel the GDP is too narrow index for evaluating the well-being of the people. Since 2009 we have conducted the common surveys in 8 Asian countries to clear the national characters in each areas.\nThe world-wide surveys have been conducted since 2000. But most of them have been managed or controlled by the western organizations or institutions; for example, the European Value Study, World Value Survey, OECD's Quality of Life index, and so on. We think some surveys would need to be conducted in Asian countries and areas to identify their uniqueness and similarities from the point of the global standard. The Asian Value Surveys, conducted by Professor Takashi Inoguchi, have been exceptionally existed.\nFortunately the research consortium between organization/institutions and universities in 8 Asian countries and areas has been formed since 2014.
