This is the second paper for students who want to learn to develop linear programming (LP) models using NUOPT. NUOPT is one of domestically produced optimization software and is used widely in many universities and research institutes in Japan. The former report (1) offered a beginner’s guide to social science students who are not familiar with LP. It also included a user’s guide for NUOPT where a simple power generation mix LP model was introduced as an example of optimization model. In this paper we lean how to fix model parameters and how to run the model. The model introduced in the this paper is one stage model which is called here the fundamental model. A multi stage model will be introduced in the next report (3).
